macOS 13 Ventura is right around the corner. 探花大神 is happy to support macOS Ventura on its release day! We鈥檙e very excited for this new release of Apple鈥檚 flagship platform OS. We have spent the summer preparing for the release of Ventura, and we鈥檙e excited to see it ship. However, some organizations may not be ready for macOS Ventura on Day One, and we have some guidance on how you can delay its install on your devices.

Why Would I Delay A Release?

Whether it鈥檚 a feature of the OS, or key software that isn鈥檛 yet certified for the new OS, sometimes you need to delay the release of a new major upgrade to macOS. 探花大神 offers you an MDM policy to Delay Major OS Upgrades Policy for enrolled devices for such a use case, and a Block macOS Ventura App Installer Policy to prevent the full installer from running on your devices with the 探花大神 agent.

This provides two ways for Mac Admins using 探花大神 to prevent the install of macOS 13 Ventura.

Keep in mind: Apple will only allow you to delay the upgrade鈥檚 appearance in your Software Update dialog for up to 90 days, after which this will be the upgrade that the end users see as their primary upgrade. You have time to resolve your issues, but not forever.

Preparedness is Every Admin鈥檚 Best Friend

Though it鈥檚 a challenge to keep pace with the Magicians of Cupertino, and their voluminous output, knowing what鈥檚 coming for your devices lets every admin shepherd their fleet of devices and their people. As an IT Admin, you can be an encyclopedia for your users of what鈥檚 coming and what鈥檚 here. Being ready for new versions of the operating system, even if you鈥檙e not ready to push them at scale, is a good posture to be in.

As macOS Ventura arrives for upgrading users, it may begin arriving also on new devices that arrive from Apple. Apple gives you a 90-day delay period to address problems in your workflows, but it doesn鈥檛 give you unlimited time before it arrives. IT Admins need to prepare to stay on top of the new release cycle, especially since the most secure version of macOS is the one that Apple has most recently released.

So grab a cider donut, or even a tall glass of the rich unfiltered cider itself, pull out your checklist, and take a look at macOS Ventura before it arrives. You won鈥檛 regret it.
